17 Feb How Can Oregano Oil Heal Lyme Disease?
“I COULDN’T TALK and I couldn’t move. I thought I was dying. I was bedridden for five months,” says pop superstar Avril Lavigne about her lengthy and difficult battle with Lyme disease. Lavigne is not the only A-list star afflicted with Lyme disease – Hollywood actors Alec Baldwin and Ben Stiller have it. Sopranos star Jamie-Lynn Sigler even wrote about her struggles with Lyme in her memoir “Wise Girl” , 2002 [1]. Former US President George Bush, actress Ashley Olsen and best-selling author Amy Tan, are also said to have battled Lyme disease.
SO, WHAT EXACTLY IS LYME DISEASE?
The sheer number of celebrities and other public figures associated with the disease has led some to dismiss it as a “fad” and a “trend.” Indeed, many seriously ill chronic Lyme sufferers have found themselves up against doctors who’ve told them that their symptoms are “all in their imagination.”
Lyme disease is, unfortunately, very real. It is an inflammatory tick-borne disease caused by a bacteria called Borrelia burgdorferi. It gets its name from a town called Lyme in Connecticut, USA which is where the disease was identified for the very first time, back in 1975. There are more than 300 strains of Lyme, worldwide, and many of them are resistant to pharmaceutical antibiotics.
If it’s not treated very quickly — within days of being bitten by an infected tick – Lyme can become a chronic and horribly debilitating disease, leading to serious problems such as cardiac symptoms, arthritis and neurological disorders.
